I think it is relatively easy and quick for Jie to change the tab in the PAC from Online Databases to something else. Do you think that is okay even though the link would still go to the database page as it looks now with the word database all over the place. Changing that is a lot more involved and will come about after all your ideas are reviewed and vetted. In the meantime I am growing to dislike the term databases and was thinking the PAC tab could read
Research and Homework Resources or
Reference and Homework or anything else anyone thinks is useful. If you have any comments or suggestions please post them. The database and eresources use is not meeting projections for this FY and anything you can do as front line service providers to acquaint the public with them is really important.

I think the changing the tab is a great first step. I would suggest "Reference & Research", but I could go with something else as well. The link on the home page sidebar should be the same as the tab.
John has stopped featuring databases on the home page, I expect because we asked him to feature BookNews, Live Homework Help, etc. Maybe we can get him back on that and feature some of the databases that are really lagging.
I agree with Zoe/Julie that changing the ipac tab is good but that the link name needs to be the same as the link from the homepage. I use both links, depending on whether the patron starts at the catlog or whether I'm doing a show-and-tell at the reference desk, and it would be nice to be consistent with our terminology. Something (relatively) short and to the point, like Reference (or Research) and Homework, would probably be best.
One more thing...Tutor.com is not listed on the Database page (well, it's not a database, after all), but if we're going to rename a link to something like Research and Homework, shouldn't Tutor.com also appear in that location?
I agree with Marcie, can we add Tutor.com to the "databases" page? My vote on the name change would be "Research and Homework" but "Reference" would be fine as well. As far as keeping the terminology consistent, if we just started out by changing the name, we have to make sure to change it on every LCPL page where the link to "databases" occurs (since it's at the bottom of every page). Is this is an easy change?
John and Jie are in the process of changing the tab and the links. Also John is setting up wireless accounts for demos in branches
